DIY: Orange & Clove Pomander

I would like to share this yummy citrus treat to spice up chilly November days. You may be familiar with this winter tradition and maybe even thought of making one for yourself. Well, here you go; directions for your own orange and clove pomander! You can customize your piece to your taste, using as few or as many cloves as desired. The orange can be hung and displayed with ribbon or displayed in a pretty bowl on your dinner table. The yummy smells will invite the cool season into your home.

Materials:

• Large Orange
• Whole Cloves (available in the spice section of most super markets)  
• Toothpick
• Ribbon

Directions:

• Using a toothpick, poke holes in your orange so the cloves will fit easier - completely cover it or make a cute pattern (think about leaving room to tie a ribbon around the orange)
• Insert your cloves into the pre-made holes
• Tie a ribbon around the orange to hang and display
• Enjoy!

Forest Cottage Series Part 1

One of my favorite hobbies and artistic interests is interior design (did anyone guess that from my last post)? In this series, I want to present ideas and inspiration for mori and natural-kei inspired home decor. Though these items can all be purchased (or replicated by hand I suppose), I plan to also include more arts and crafts type projects as well. I found a plethora of perfect items to accent any room on a small scale and now I would like to share them. There are quite a few items, so I will not bother posting individual info and links. Monthly Challenge Theme: Bark and Wood

Hello readers! I am happy to introduce a new series called " Monthly Challenge Themes". As you may have already guessed, each challenge with have a different theme for you to participate in. The themes will be general enough to be left up for interpretation. If anyone is familiar with the LJ communitie's Mori Girl group, these themes will be similar. Ways of responding to these themes include (linking/posting photos/writing about) inspired outfits, photographs, food, crafts, findings, art or really anything you can think of! Hopefully these posts will aid in inspiring your mori lifestyle. I am very excited to see the results! Please have fun with this!

Fall Craft Ideas

I was reading through the newest issue of Woman's Day magazine at dinner tonight (how domestic can I get)? Luckily, I did find a few craft and decorating ideas that struck me as quite mori-able! I scanned the features to make them a little easier to visualize. All photos are from Woman's Day magazine.

First off: A cute wreath made of craft paper and wheat sprigs. Perhaps your could add your own twist to make it more mori? Thick lace or other plants may do nicely. 

Next: Pretty pretty pumpkins. Pumpkins don't just disappear after Halloween! Take advantage of the post-Halloween sales and pick up a few extra pumpkins for this craft. Maybe try different colors as well.

Next idea: A doily-printed tote. The instructions got a little cut-off, but I think it's pretty self-explanatory. I'm not a big fan of the monogram, and I would maybe try different colors of canvas and paint. 

Lastly: How cute is this pie crust?!
